Potty on the Go: Don't sabotage your potty progress when you're out and about.

So, you’ve decided to go and give the early potty training a try. Don’t do it blindly... Get more then one potty!

Your 'Little Pooper' or 'Betsy Wetsy' may not like one particular brand of potty, or prefer another. They may even prefer to use Mommy and Daddy’s potty - or you could get the 'precious' potty trainee who likes to switch between different potties.

Our little 'Lord Poopenmeister' preferred one that had a cushy seat, which also happens to act a seat that can be added to the big toilet. It’s a combo.

The bonus up-shot of having extra potties is that you can keep them in various rooms and even have ones for 'the go' when you're 'on the go.'

Yes, I did say 'on the go.' As an adult, there's nothing more relaxing then going to a public restroom where we are most comfortable going about our business. If we enjoy 'the go' while 'on the go' then so will the little ones. Don’t sabotage yourself with laziness or fear of public toilets.

Putting diapers back on your child after you have started potty training is smart for traveling and nighttime, but if you insist they use a diaper while out and about, simply because you're going to the mall or a restaurant and 'going potty' will only complicate things, you're sabotaging all your potty training progress - and lead to confusion and frustration for your little one.

I mean, think about how you'd feel if you'd mastered 'pooping' and 'peeing' in a potty, but whenever you were out and about, Mommy or Daddy insisted you 'go' in your diaper, contradicting everything they'd tried to teach you.

So travel potties and toilet seat liners, as well as wet wipes, are a must for 'traveling poopers.'

Hey, like I said, I'm not a nut - you don’t have to go completely diaper free. Just don’t insist your child use the diaper when they say "I want Potty."

And there's an upshot to carrying around potty supplies, like a package of Luvs brand wipes. Both my husband and I think going about our own 'potty business' while out and about is much more pleasant when we have baby supplies to use ourselves! Luvs wipes make a much more sanitary experience when using public restrooms!

Not to mention, public restrooms generally don't have that comfy 2-ply paper we love to use at home. So think about your potty adventures from your child's point of view. If you wouldn't be comfy in a particular 'potty predicament,' your kid most likely won't be either!
